BTRMIX004: Akul

The BTRMIX series is back! For the first edition this year, we’re joined by none other than Sydney’s grime and bass aficionado, Akul. We were lucky enough to host Akul last year at the infamous Rivet 009 party (he managed to get a set in before we were shut down, hurray). We had always loved Luka’s selection, but from this night we just knew we had to get him in for a proper mix up.

Formerly known around town as Forestsound, Luka Baptista returned to Australia (after a stint in Portugal) with a new take on his musical direction and production. With a new pseudonym and a pocket full of tunes, Akul has been killing the local 140 circuits with his most recent performance supporting NZ’s Akcept with Ohmsy D (A collab of theirs featured on this mix)

Strap up for an emotive journey through grimey rhythms and future bassy sounds as this mix really takes you places. Definitely one of our favourites so far.
